Good afternoon, readers! Thank goodness it is Friday.
Today’s photo is a set of dumbbells. They are 1kg (2.2lbs), 1.5kg (3.3lbs) and 2.5kg (5.5lbs). I won’t be needing these, that’s why they are tucked away inside their box.
Why won’t I need them, I can hear you ask. Is it because I disdain weight training?
NO! It is because I have grown so mighty and strong that even the blue ones are too little for me. Look at this fab collection! This is what I have graduated to!

The green ones are 3kg (6.6lbs). The blue ones are 4kg (8.8lbs). The orange ones are 5kg (11lbs). The purple ones are 7kg (15.4lbs) – these are my upper limit at the moment, I’m very proud of that because I only started strength workouts recently and have made tons of progress. Slightly out of shot are my grey dumbbells that weigh 8kg (17.6lbs). The black dumbbells weigh 10kg (22lbs) – they are too heavy for me right now and exist to serve as motivation.
My daily routine now looks like this:
Morning, about 7.30. Yoga. I’ve done very little yoga before but can feel that I’m gradually improving. I might start alternating yoga with pilates in that early morning slot.
Midday, go for a walk, usually 5km (3 miles). I don’t have a set time or speed that I aim for. I just walk 5k and go at whatever speed I feel like.
Evening, strength training. This is where the dumbbells come in. It’s a 30-45 minute session where I do upper body one day and lower body the next. I do bicep curls, bench presses (I even bought a weights bench!!!), weighted lunges and all that sort of thing.
I’ve been following this exact routine for 3 weeks now which of course is nothing in the grand scheme of things, BUT I work out every single day and follow a plan. I don’t miss days or start making up my own exercises.
As for my weight loss goals: the scales are only moving slowly but I am building visible muscle. I have muscles in my arms now as well as my legs. Surely this has to be good for burning off a few calories.
And that’s all the fitness news.
